PM39 raid failure

Post by Admin » Sat Jul 11, 2015 7:37 pm

PM39 (KVM) experienced a raid failure. The problem is under investigation to see if it can be recovered or not.
It may take a long time for the tests and possible rebuild to take place. we will keep you posted.

The server has been stable overnight.
We still do not know what caused the raid failure, no component looks damaged.

After 3 failures we managed to determine that disks are turning off randomly, but we do not know what causes this. It does create havoc, raid rebuilds, hangs, so the node is no longer suitable for service.
If you have a service there, you probably already received instructions on how to proceed for migration. A free month is included, no matter which of the choices provided you take.
We are really sorry for this incident.

Everyone has been migrated to SSD storage and given one month extra to apologize for these issues.
pm39 will be shutdown in a day or so, please migrate all your DNSes and all left there, change hardcoded IPs to new ones, etc.
We copied all content, but this is not enough for some people.
Once again, we are sorry for this hardware failure, there was no data loss, but keep in mind we do not guarantee your data, you should make use of our free ftpnweb backup space and have recent/automated backups at all times. If there is no hardware failure, still, there are many other potential problems, such as hacking, you can make a mistake and delete important data yourself, please remember to have recent back-ups!
